Rainbow Community Places (RCP) is a non-profit, community-based agency that is committed to empowering 2SLGBTQIA+ people by building community in safe(r) spaces across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). RCP currently runs two programs:
Dorothy’s Place and Toby’s Place.

Dorothy’s Place is a free drop-in lunch program for 2SLGBTQIA+ seniors (and their caregivers), aged 55+. Toby’s Place is a free after-school drop-in program for 2SLGBTQIA+ youth, questioning youth, and allied friends, aged 13–20.

Toby's Place Program Coordinator

Are you a passionate and dynamic leader ready to make a tangible difference in the lives of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth? Rainbow Community Places (RCP) is seeking a Program Coordinator to champion and lead our Toby's Place program. This is more than a leadership role; it's an opportunity to cultivate a thriving, resilient community where young people feel safe, empowered, and ready to flourish. The Toby's Place Program Coordinator is responsible for providing program leadership, managing the smooth operation of the weekly drop-in, and creating a safe(r) and nurturing environment for participants. This leadership role focuses on managing program delivery, recruiting and mentoring volunteers, maintaining compliance with RCP policies, and serving as the communication liaison to the RCP Board. This role reports to the Board HR Subcommittee. ● Program Hours: This role requires a dynamic, on-site presence for the weekly 5 hour drop-in program at our Scarborough location (Mondays, 3:30 PM to 8:30 PM). An additional 1-2 hours before/after the program is required for set-up and clean-up. ● Flexible Schedule: This role is expected to take up to 12 hours each week, with approximately 7 hours on Monday at our Scarborough location. The remainder of your weekly hours are flexible, allowing you to manage planning, administrative tasks, and meetings with the HR Subcommittee and Board. Program Leadership & Operations ● Lead and oversee all aspects of the weekly Toby's Place program, which runs on Monday from 3:30 to 8:30 pm. ● Oversee planning and preparation for the weekly drop-in, including organizing educational and recreational activities. ● Manage the overall set up and clean-up of the program space, including coordination of food preparation and kitchen clean-up, with support from volunteers and the Program Assistant. ● Complete weekly program summaries suitable for use in grant submissions and reporting. ● Ensure compliance with applicable RCP policies and procedures, striving to create a go-to safer space. ● Keep a record of any incidents or problems that may require follow-up or action. 2. Volunteer Management & Development ● Recruit, screen, and train volunteers to assist with the running of the Toby’s Place Program. ● Mentor and support volunteers in their responsibilities, encouraging them to work to their full potential and contribute to the program's safe(r) space. 3. Organizational Support & Inter-Program Collaboration ● Maintain communication with the Board, including preparing and providing a report prior to regular Board meetings. ● Assist with grant-related projects by recruiting facilitators/volunteers, arranging materials, tracking expenses, and reporting to grantors and the RCP Treasurer (when applicable). ● Collaborate with Board members to prepare grant applications for program funding when appropriate. ● Work as a team with the Dorothy’s Place Program Coordinator to procure food for meals, supplies for program needs and to offer intergenerational events as and when appropriate. ● Promote Toby’s Place and RCP by tabling at schools and other venues as time permits. ● Provide occasional back-up support for the Dorothy’s Place program if key volunteers or peer facilitators are unavailable. Qualifications and Requirements ● Demonstrated experience in program leadership or coordination, particularly within a drop-in or youth-focused setting. ● Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, creating an environment that fosters belonging among staff and volunteers. ● Strong commitment to the purpose, mission, vision, and values of RCP, with a clear understanding of the need to create safe(r) spaces for 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. ● Experience in recruiting, training, and overseeing volunteers. ● Excellent communication skills to effectively relay program information to participants (via newsletter/social media) and provide clear reports to the Board. ● Familiarity with the needs of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth and demonstrated ability to work with 2SLGBTQ+ communities including integrating antiracism, anti-oppression and intersectional values and principles into daily practice. ● Ability to manage time effectively to carry out all planning, program delivery, and administrative tasks within the specified weekly hours. ● Please note, a vulnerable persons police check will be required for successful candidates. Work Conditions ● Primary Location: Toby's Place. Monday’s at 33 East Road, Scarborough, Ontario. ○ Remote for administrative work ● Regular Hours: Approximately 12 hours per week. The weekly drop-in runs on Monday from 3:30 PM to 8:30 PM, from September to July. Set-up and clean-up are required before/after the program hours. Dorothy's Place Program Assistant

Are you an energetic and compassionate self-starter who learns quickly and is ready to make a direct impact on the well-being of 2SLGBTQIA+ seniors? Rainbow Community Places (RCP) is searching for a Program Assistant to work with the Program Coordinator leading the Dorothy's Place program. This is more than a support role; it's an opportunity to help cultivate a thriving, resilient community where 2SLGBTQIA+ seniors can connect with one another. The Dorothy’s Place Program Assistant is responsible for assisting with the leadership of the Dorothy's Place Program and working with the Program Coordinator. This role focuses on hands-on assistance, including setting up the program space, providing kitchen assistance, chatting with participants, welcoming newcomers, and helping with program support. This role reports to the Dorothy's Place Program Coordinator. ● Program Hours: This role requires an on-site presence for the weekly drop-in program at our Scarborough location (Mondays, 11:30 am to 2:00 pm). This position requires arriving approximately one hour before the program starts (10:30 am) to set up the program space and stay after to clean up at the end of the program. ● Flexible Schedule: This role is expected to take up to 8 hours each week, approximately 5 hours on Monday at our Scarborough location. The remainder of your weekly hours are flexible and may vary week-to-week. Program Support and Operations ● Assisting the Dorothy's Place Program Coordinator with the execution of the program. ● Providing backup and support for the Program Coordinator, offering leadership for the program when the Coordinator is unavailable. ● Arriving promptly to assist with the set up and clean-up of the program space. This includes lifting, moving and setting up tables, chairs, food and supplies into and out of the work area. ● Assisting with the coordination of food preparation and kitchen clean-up. ● Coordination with Toby’s Place staff to enable smooth transition of the shared space on Mondays from Dorothy’s Place to Toby’s Place. ● Engaging with participants by welcoming newcomers and engaging with participants. ● Shared oversight of volunteers to ensure a safe(r) space. ● Ensure compliance with applicable RCP policies and procedures, striving to create a go-to safer space. ● Report any incidents or problems to the Dorothy’s Place Program Coordinator. 2. Organizational and Administrative Support ● Performing some administrative tasks to promote and support Dorothy’s Place, such as content for newsletters, program updates and summaries for grant and Board reports and social media posts. ● Assist with the recruitment of volunteers, as needed. ● Assisting with RCP's fundraising events, tabling to attract participants and attending RCP organizational meetings as needed. ● Provide occasional back-up support for other RCP programs if key volunteers or the other program assistant(s) are unavailable. Marketing & Admin Coordinator

Are you a highly organized, digitally savvy professional ready to immediately enhance the presence and capacity of a 2SLGBTQIA+ community organization? Rainbow Community Places (RCP) is seeking a Marketing & Admin Coordinator to execute specific, focused tasks to improve our external communications, digital presence, and internal administrative structure. This is a hands-on contract role dedicated to building organizational capacity, allowing Program leaders to focus on program delivery and the Board to focus on operational growth. The successful candidate will be a resourceful and organized individual, responsible for improving RCP's visibility, professionalism, and capacity for fundraising and growth. This role reports to the HR Subcommittee of the Board. This is an ideal opportunity for a current student or recent graduate in marketing, communications, or digital media to gain paid, hands-on experience and build a professional portfolio while supporting a vital community organization. Key Responsibilities 1. Marketing & Digital Communications ● Manage and update RCP’s website (using the Wix platform) to ensure it is current, accessible, and accurately reflects the organization's purpose, mission, vision, and values and AODA requirements. ● Oversee RCP’s various social media channels and the content creation for the Toby’s Place and Dorothy’s Place channels and newsletters, with input from Program leaders and Board members. ● Assist with the design and preparation of flyers and other promotional materials for programs, events, and fundraising initiatives (e.g., the Comedy Benefit, Waterfront Marathon). This includes maintaining RCP and program logos in various file formats. ● Ensure the organization's Canada Helps profile is complete and linked to the website for fundraising clarity. 2. Organizational Capacity & Administration ● Organize and maintain digital administrative files (e.g., Google Drive organization) to improve organizational memory and accessibility. ● Attend Board meetings (other than in camera portions) and meet with the RCP HR Subcommittee monthly, or as otherwise agreed, to report on progress. ● Support outreach by ensuring promotional materials are available and information is shared with venues/partners, maximizing opportunities with media contacts (e.g., Inspired Media). ● Ensure compliance with applicable RCP policies and procedures, striving to maintain a go-to safe(r) space. Work Conditions ● Location: Remote. Flexible schedule is required to attend occasional meetings, such as the monthly RCP HR Subcommittee meeting or Board meetings. ● Duration: 12-Month Contract; Potential for extension, depending on funding. ● Regular Hours: Approximately 5-7 hours per week. ● Compensation: $20-$25/hr, depending on experience. Qualifications and Requirements ● Demonstrated skills in graphic design, social media management, and website maintenance (RCP uses the Wix platform.) Class projects, volunteer work, or past employment are all valid experiences. ● Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a post-secondary program in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Graphic Design, or a related field is a strong asset. ● Strong administrative and organizational skills, particularly with digital file management (e.g., Google Drive, data organization). ● Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both youth and senior audiences (newsletters/social media) and Board reporting. ● Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage time effectively to deliver on a focused set of administrative and communications objectives. ● Alignment with RCP's core values. ● Experience or familiarity with non-profit organizational structure and operations is an asset.
